Pottery Alley has a great staff with over 30 years combined pottery teaching experience. Each of our teachers has a unique style and teaching method. We love to teach all ages and skill levels, teaching students the basics and guiding them into creating their own artwork.

Susannah Craig - Studio Owner and instructorMaking pottery has been a passion of mine for over twenty years. It’s my favorite way to unleash my inner creative side, channel my thoughts, feelings, emotions and ideas and even to relax.

Playing in the mud brings back wonderful memories from childhood and it keeps me in touch with my fun, younger self. It’s like being a kid all over again.

Ben Handley - Studio Owner, Maintenance Guy, Incompetent Bookkeeper, Kiln Demi-God

I keep myself busy when i’m at the studio making sure that all the equipment is in good condition for my students and processing all the paperwork. When you make a reservation, if anyone at the studio contacts you it will probably be me. If anything goes awry it’s probably me, too ; ) I’m a Biologist and geologist by training and a nerd by temperament. I got into pottery In 2006 by taking a wheel class with susannah at Lucky Mud Studio and after it closed I Opened Pottery Alley in 2007 to keep our addictions fed. I’ve been too busy to play at the studio ever since. When I’m not doing this or my real job I enjoy watching TV, Reading, Bird watching, traveling, and pretty much whatever else keeps me out of the house.

Susan Chiquelin - Instructor

Hi, I'm Susan Chiquelin; I sign my pottery with chick. It's a fun nickname to use and indicates how much fun I have creating pottery. Throwing pots is my passion and I try to pass the joy I feel when I sit at the wheel on to my students. Yes, they learn skills but if they aren't having fun I'm not doing my job. So come be a student and play in the mud with me. You'll learn wheel throwing skills and have a great time too!
