Want to learn the basics or expand your skills in a specialty area? Our workshops are the perfect fit for anyone looking for something specific. Try out our studio without the commitment. We’re sure you’ll love it here!

  • Wheel for Dummies
Take the wheel for a spin and learn the fundamentals in this three-hour session. You will learn how to work with raw clay, center a lump of it on the wheel, throw cylinders and—time permitting—move on to bowls, in a focused environment. Registration for this workshop is $55 and includes instruction, clay, glazes, and firing. We try to schedule these two or three times per month.

  • Bird Feeder Workshop

Do you love birds? We do too! Learn to make easy, cute slab-built bird feeders to keep your feathered friends fat and happy whatever the season. Registration is $45 and includes instruction, clay, glazes, and firing.

  • Seasonal Workshops
Don’t you just love decorating for the holidays? Our seasonal two-hour workshops are perfect for crafting spooky Jack O’Lanterns or adorable keepsake Christmas ornaments. Designed for kids aged 6 and up and adults who are young at heart, this is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit and unleash your creativity! Registration is $45 and includes instruction, clay, glazes, and firing.

  • Slab Vase Workshops (off schedule)
These vases are retro — and contemporary! Learn the fundamentals of working with clay slabs and textures to create a shapely vessel that carries your very own vibe. Your friends and your flowers will perk up and take notice. Registration is $45 and includes instruction, clay, glazes, and firing.

  • Raku Workshops (off schedule)
Luckily for us, we happen to have a friend who is a world-champion potter. It’s lucky for you too because we’re able to offer an amazing workshop led by Bruce Odell, an internationally recognized raku artist. Bruce’s raku firing method is worthy of an audience. He heats his bisque-fired pots with a blow-torch, then buries them in organic material such as sawdust. When they emerge, each piece wears a kaleidoscope of iridescent color.

During this all-day workshop, Bruce demonstrates his throwing techniques and his unique style of raku firing. You will also be able to glaze and raku-fire several of your own pieces using Bruce’s method. You may bring up to four pieces no larger than 7-inches in diameter. They MUST be made of raku clay and MUST be bisque-fired and ready to glaze when you arrive.

Because these are full-day sessions, attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring food and beverage to eat during the day. Registration is $125 and includes instruction, glazes, and firing. A catered lunch is available for an additional $10-$15 if preferred.

Workshops are open to all students ages 8 and up, regardless of skill level unless otherwise noted. Don’t forget to dress casual — working in clay can be messy! Workshops other than Wheel for Dummies may or may not be on the schedule, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for, feel free to let us know!
